Sue Schuurmans’ Memorial Award
This is an annual award that can be used to purchase a piece of equipment for your squad. The amount of the award varies but 2011-2014 it was $250. For more information please contact the State Training Officer at training@sdemsa.org

EMT of the Year Award
This award has been changed in name from the Henry “Vic” Steffen award. This award is presented yearly to a member selected by a committee made up of the district and state presidents. Each District selects a nominee to submit for this competition. A selection is made by the committee and the award is presented at the annual banquet during the Conference.

Presidents Award
This award is presented annually to a member who, in the opinion of the SDEMSA President, has been instrumental in furthering the goals and objectives of EMS in South Dakota and who is an active member of the SDEMSA.

Gary Goertz Scholarship
This scholarship is sponsored by Freeman Ambulance Service of Freeman, SD. It is a $500 scholarship awarded to paramedic students who are residents of South Dakota or non-residents who receive their paramedic education in South Dakota. If anyone needs more information, contact:

EMS Instructor of the Year Award
This award will be given to an EMS Instructor who has been active in education and shows dedication and commitment to providing quality EMS education in the state of South Dakota. Nominations should be sent by October 1st to:

Lifetime Membership
Members who are, or have been, very active in the association at the state or district level and been an active member for 10 or more consecutive years may be nominated to be awarded a lifetime membership. Award applications are due to the Association Secretary prior to the Executive Council Meeting in July.
