This is an annual award that can be used
to purchase a piece of equipment for your squad. The amount of the
award varies, but in 1998 was $225.

EMT of the Year Award
This award has been changed in name from the Henry "Vic" Steffen
award. This award is presented yearly to a member selected by a committee
made up of the district and state presidents. Each District selects a nominee
to submit for this competition. A selection is made by the committee
and the award is presented at the annual banquet during the Conference.

EMS of the Year Award
This award is presented annually and is selected by a committee
made up of the state and district vice presidents amongst nominations received
by the squad or by a member on behalf of the squad. In 1998 this award included a $500 stipend which
was generously donated by Citibank.

Presidents Award
This award is presented annually to a member who, in the opinion
of the SDEMTA President, has been instrumental in furthering the goals
and objectives of EMS in South Dakota and who is an active member
of the SDEMTA.
Gary Goertz Scholarship
This scholarship is sponsored by Freeman Ambulance
Service of Freeman, SD. It is a $500 scholarship awarded to paramedic
students who are residents of South Dakota or non-residents who receive
their paramedic education in South Dakota. If anyone needs more information,

EMS Instructor of the Year Award
This award will be given to an EMS Instructor who has been
active in education and shows the dedication and commitment to providing quality
